A sound mixing software that will really make you feel like a DJ
Music has always been one of the most popular ways people can express themselves creatively. Since ancient times, music has played a huge part in shaping the cultures of the world. It also continues to change and evolve and now, there are hundreds of music genres that appeal to people from all walks of life. Sound mixing is among the greatest contributors for the evolution and widespread appeal of music. Unsurprisingly, it’s starting to garner more popularity among people who want to get into music. DJ MixStation 2 by eJay is a sound mixing software that beginners will have a lot of fun playing with.
First of all, installing the software was simple and quick. There were no additional processes necessary and there were also no offers to install extra software. Once the software has been installed, you’ll be taken to the actual program.
What you’ll probably notice is the unique interface of the DJ MixStation. It was designed to look similar to an actual DJ’s controller. At the top of the program screen is a window where the beats and sound normalization are displayed. Below that window is the aforementioned DJ controller. The DJ MixStation is equipped with two wheels where you can add the two audio that you want to mix together. There are also buttons for playing and stopping the music. In between the two wheels are sliders for volume and buttons. There are also buttons to switch the view in the last window. The last window can switch between audio files, search, effects, samples, and recording. The Audio Files view displays all of the audio files that you can use. Search allows users to search for MP3 files in the computers. Effects let users modify and enhance the music that they’re going to mix. Finally, Recording lets users record their new music. However, this feature is only available in the full version of the program.
Does It Work Well?
If the only question is whether or not DJ Mixstation 2 can mix two music files together then the answer is undoubtedly yes. However, there are a lot of problems plaguing the software that can severely affect the performance and user experience of the software. One of the biggest problems is the fact that the interface does not seem stable. Sometimes, the bottom window does not display the audio files properly. For some reason, the names are missing and they cannot be clicked. It’s also common to see icons repeating when users press the folders icon. In addition, whenever users maximize the software, the resolution of the entire screen is reduced to fit the resolution of the software itself.
Problematic, But It’s Enough In a Pinch
With all of the above in mind, it’s a bit difficult to recommend this software. The unstable interface makes it really difficult to work with. Sure, it is able to mix music, but so can other, more stable software like Traktor. If you’re in dire need, then go for it. However, if other options are available to you then consider those first.
